My name is Nora King. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been licensed to practice counseling since 1998 in Tennessee and since 1999 in Virginia. I attended the University of Southern California, where I was awarded a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Master of Gerontology (MSG) in 1994.
I spent some time afterwards in the Nashville Tennessee region working for the home health industry. My work there connected me with surrounding communities big and small. It was there that I developed an interest in behavioral health and where I obtained my training and first license to practice counseling.
I moved back to my home state of Virginia in 2001 when a counseling opportunity opened in the local community services board. I worked there for almost 14 years. While there I learned much about the needs of the chronically mentally ill and their families and about chronic medical illness and substance dependence. As a counselor I worked with individuals, groups, and families. I also took on case management responsibilities.
What does my background and experience mean for you?
You know that the experience of chronic and persistent mental illness taxes one’s ability to cope with activities of daily living. It takes the persistent efforts of formal caregivers like us to assist and advocate for long-term success so clients can live successfully in the least-restrictive environment.
I too have the experience of working in complex organizations with the identified patient, caregivers, and their families. My experience includes working with my fellow clinicians, technicians/aides, nurses, psychiatrists, middle managers, and administrators. Behind the scenes, I have the experience of working with the documentation mandated by third-party payers and regulatory authorities, such as Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA.
It is this multi-layered first-hand experience that I bring to my career as a copywriter. It is this experience that makes me your go-to copywriter. This is the reason I established behavioralhealthcopy.com, this because I understand the behavioral health industry.
Specifically, my interest is in meeting the B2B needs within the behavioral health industry. Advocates for the severely mentally ill wear many hats. These include buyers and sellers of medical services, medical equipment, insurance, furniture, educational materials, to name just a few.
